Every year EUBO invites 100 talented young baroque musicians from across Europe to audition. The 25 successful candidates, typically from 12 or more different countries with an average age of 25 years, spend six months together, training, touring and performing throughout Europe and further afield under the direction of the world’s leading baroque specialists including in 2010 Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Ton Koopman and Christina Pluhar. At the end of each year, the students of EUBO move on into the professional world and the whole process, from audition to graduation, begins again. EUBO has been so successful in its mission that there are now former EUBO students in every major professional baroque ensemble in Europe, including Les Arts Florissants, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Les Musiciens du Louvre, English Concert, Europa Galante, Academy of Ancient Music etc. Since its foundation in 1985, the Orchestra has given concerts in more than 50 different countries. EUBO is highly regarded by the European Parliament, Commission and Council as a cultural ambassador for the EU and receives funding from the European Union’s Education and Culture program. The Orchestra is proud to carry the message of Europe - of understanding and tolerance of cultural diversity – all over the world. The European Union Baroque Orchestra also performs at many of Europe's finest music festivals and concert halls, including the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, Opera Comique in Paris, and the Festivals of Ansbach, Vlaanderen, Edinburgh, as well as top specialist early music festivals such as Utrecht, Ambronay, York and Lufthansa Baroque in London. |
