Our biggest summer cultural manifestation – the “Ohrid Summer Festival”- has its 49th issue this year. It is certain that this summer in its traditional term, 12th July – 20th August, the Festival will shine bringing even more versatile artistic achievements.
One more time, the “Ohrid Summer Festival” will present itself with dignity in front of Macedonian, European and world wide cultural audience, proving itself to be an important factor in achieving one pluralistic noble mission of equal competition of master artistic values.
The 49th edition of the Festival, will prove the highly valued international reputation of this manifestation, with the highest artistic achievements, with all characteristic and specifics which make it a unique and recognizable in the area.

The Ohrid Summer Festival was found in 1961. The first official festival event was the concert, held by the Macedonian opera Prima-Donna Ana Lipsa Tofovoc on 4 August 1961.
The Festival has established its own term 12th July till 20th August, as traditional every year. It is financed by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia, and sponsors, some of them members at the Club of Friends of the Festival. The Patron of the Festival is thePresident of the Republic of Macedonia.
Since 1994, the Festival is a member of the European Festival Association. During the last 48 years, many national and international music and theatre artists and ensembles have performed at the festival. Among the most eminent ones we can name: Zubin Mehta, Jose Carreras, Mstislav Rostropovich, Jessye Norman, Victoria de Los Angeles, Gideon Kremer, Maxim Wengerov, Vadim Repin, Julian Rachlin, Henryk Szeryng, Elena Obrascova, Katia Ricciarelli and others.
